Q1. What kind of professional full membership is eligible for the application of RCx Professional?
 
 
The full membership of the following professional institutions are eligible:

  1. Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)
  2. The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)
  3. Building Services Operation and Maintenance Executives Society (BSOMES)
  4. The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE)
  5. Energy Institute (EI)
  6. Hong Kong Association of Energy Engineers (HKAEE)
  7. Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE)
  8. Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
  9. Engineering Council (CIBSE, IMechE)
  10. Engineers Registration Board (Disciplines of "Building Services", "Control, Automation & Instrumentation", "Electrical", "Electronics", "Energy", "Environmental" or "Mechanical")
Remarks: Membership types such as "Associate Member", "Affiliate Member", "Graduate Member", "Student Member", etc. will not be considered as a full membership.
 
Q2. I am a registered RCx Practitioner / RCx Professional. Can I print the qualification on my name card?
 
The print specifictaions are as follows:

For English: 
RCx (L1) 
RCx (L2) 
RCx Pro 

For Chinese:

Q3. I failed the Retro-commissioning (RCx) Training for RCx Practitioner/Professional examination. When is the deadline to retake the examination?
 
You can retake the examination within one year from the first examination date.
 
Q4. How to submit my CPD record?
 
RCx Practitioners / RCx Professionals should provide the following information when submitting CPD record:
  • Organiser
  • Event / Project Name
  • CPD hour
Except from the CPD event organised by HKGBC, all other CPD record is to be uploaded to individual account by registrants with just a few steps below:

Q5. What is the CPD hour requirement?
 
CPD hour requirements are as follows:

Registration Type CPD hours required
RCx Practitioner (Level 1) 3 CPD hours/ year
RCx Practitioner (Level 2) 6 CPD hours/ year
RCx Professional 6 CPD hours/ year

A random check of CPD record submission will be arranged every year and the RCx Practitioners / RCx Professionals will be required to submit relevant supporting documents as proof if necessary.
 
Q6. What type of CPD record shall I submit?
 
1. Attend or be a speaker in any retro-commissioning-related training/ seminar/ technical visit /event.
  • Event name or programme contains key words:
  • Related to RCx, e.g. Data Analytics, M&V, field investigation, fine-tuning, re-adjustment, re-balancing, E&M modification etc.
  • Related to Energy, e.g. technology part of energy audit, energy management etc.
2. Conduct research/ study OR write technical/ journal paper related to RCx
  • Title or content of the research/ study/ paper is related to key words:
  • Related to RCx, e.g. Data Analytics, M&V, field investigation, fine-tuning, re-adjustment, re-balancing, E&M modification etc.
  • Related to Energy, e.g. technology part of energy audit, energy management etc.
3. Participate in RCx project(s) that applied for CLP’s Eco Building Fund or HKE’s Smart Power Building Fund

4. Become member of Registration Committee/ attend RCx working group meeting or as a jury member in competitions organised by HKGBC/ HKIE / CIBSE/ ASHRAE / AEE(HK)/ HKAEE/ BSOMES/ EI/ EMSD/ EnB related to RCx

Remarks: Maximum hours to be claimed each year: CPD requirement/year
 
Q7. Shall I need to pay both the registration fee and renewal fee or just registration fee?
 
The qualification validity of all RCx Practitioners / RCx Professionals is on a 5-year basis. The 1st year registration fee is waived and registrants will be reminded to settle the registration fee for the remaining 4 years (2nd year – 5th year) by email. The renewal fee will be applicable when RCx Practitioners / RCx Professionals would like to renew the qualification at the 6th year.
