Target Audience: Engineers who hold professional qualifications and wish to learn how to manage RCx process, and develop RCx practices for the corporates
Training Content: 1) Introduction to RCx
  • RCx mechanism and involvement of various practitioners. Their roles and responsibilities
  • Steps and practices to carry out RCx process at various stages
2) Investigation
  • How to conduct site evaluation and preliminary investigation
  • Basic concept and approaches of data analytic
3) Implementation
  • Identification of ESO from the diagnosis of analytic results
  • Basic concept and approaches for implementation, M&V of ESO
4) M&V
  • Relevant M&V standards for RCx and its on-site practices
  • ESO saving estimation related to M&V and reporting of RCx project
5) On-going Commissioning
  • Setup key performance indicators (KPIs), induce training and review on-going commissioning plan
Learning Outcome: Upon completion of the training, candidates should have the ability and knowledge to:
  • Understand fully the 4 stages of RCx
  • Carry out the RCx process with the necessary support from members of the RCx teams or services providers
  • Understand the performance characteristics of the building facilities and the common ESOs
  • Manage the energy performance of building facilities through on-going commissioning
  • Understand in-depth the complicated correlations among factors affecting the energy efficiency of building facilities
  • Use advanced data analytical skills to determine ESOs and carry out M&V
Examination: A 60-minute online examination is included in the training.

Important Notes to Candidates
Enrolment
  • Everyone is welcome to join the training and examination.
  • The three types of training are stand-alone, and candidate can choose to enrol in any one of them.
  • Candidate should create an individual account online for the enrolment.
  • Enrolment is processed on a first-come-first-served basis. Invoice will be issued once the enrolment number reaches the minimum requirement. Enrolment will be confirmed upon receipt of payment. Candidate has to pay within 21 days from the invoice date, or one day before the training or examination starts, whichever is earlier. Overdue payment will be considered as cancellation of enrolment.
  • The payment is non-refundable unless the training or examination is cancelled by the HKGBC. The payment is also non-transferrable unless written request is received by the HKGBC before the training or examination starts. The payment will not be refunded to latecomer, early leaver, or absentee. The HKGBC reserves the right to postpone or cancel the training or examination. In such cases, affected candidate will be notified and refunded.
  • The RCx training and examination are parts of the registration requirements. Candidate should submit another application to register as RCx Professional. The detailed registration requirements can be found at: https://retro.hkgbc.org.hk/textdisplay.php?serial=79.
Participation in RCx Training

1. Training Materials
  • Upon confirmation of enrolment, candidate can download relevant training materials and references (if any) from the individual account approximately one week before the training. Candidate is advised to review the training materials before the training, and prepare the electronic or printed training materials for the training.
2. Attendance
  • For online training, candidate will receive an online classroom link. Candidate is required to enter the user name properly, i.e., using the English full name as shown in the HKID or passport, otherwise the attendance will not be recorded.
  • Candidate is strongly advised to join the online classroom 10 minutes before the training starts.
3. Issuance of Certificate
  • Upon completion of the training and confirmation of payment, candidate will receive a Certificate of Attendance within 5 working days. To ensure sufficient training is provided to the candidate, the Certificate of Attendance will NOT be issued to the latecomer who is late for over 30 minutes or early leaver who leaves without prior consent from the HKGBC.
Participation in RCx Examination

1. Reschedule of RCx Examination
  • Examination will be held immediately after the training. Candidate is not allowed to reschedule the examination unless a written explanation is provided with strong reason approved by the RCx Registration Committee, i.e., medical reason, before the examination starts. In case the reschedule is granted, the rescheduled examination should be conducted on the next working day, otherwise the candidate is required to retake the examination by paying additional examination fee.
  • Candidate who is absent from the examination without prior notice to the HKGBC as stated above is required to retake the examination by paying additional examination fee.
2. Rules for RCx Examination
  • Candidate is required to complete the RCx training before attending the examination. Candidate should prepare their own training materials for the open-book examination. Candidate is strongly advised to review the training material before the examination.
  • For online examination, candidate should prepare their own electronic device, i.e., computer, laptop, or smart phone, to connect internet for the examination. In case of having computer glitch, candidate should report to the HKGBC Secretariat (tel: 3994 8809 or email: rcx@hkgbc.org.hk) immediately. Late reporting will not be accepted and candidate will need to retake the examination by paying additional fee in case of fail.
  • Candidate is warned that any offences of the following terms may lead to disqualification from the examination:
    • Obtaining knowledge of the contents of questions prior to the examination.
    • Copying from the work of another candidate.
    • Communicating or attempting to communicate in any form with a person during an examination session.
    • Attempting to copy or record examination questions in any format.
    • Impersonating or requesting others to impersonate.
    • Deliberately disturbing or causing a nuisance to other candidate.
    • Disobeying the instruction of the HKGBC Secretariat or being excessively rude to the HKGBC Secretariat.
3. Announcement of Examination Result and Issuance of Certificate
  • Upon completion of the examination and confirmation of payment, candidate will receive an official notification of examination result within 5 working days. A Certificate of Attendance will be provided to the candidate who has passed the examination.
4. Retake
  • Candidate who has failed the examination can retake within 1 year, starting from the first examination date, by paying additional examination fee. In case of failure to pass the examination within the 1-year period, the candidate will be required to retake both RCx training and examination, and will need to make the necessary payment.
