Introduction of RCx Training and Examination

The Scheme provides three types of RCx training to help candidates become familiar with the RCx process, which includes planning, investigation, implementation and on-going commissioning. Three types of RCx examinations are also designed to assess candidates’ understanding of core concepts, common practices, and knowledge necessary for supporting the implementation of RCx.

RCx Practitioner (Level 1) RCx Practitioner (Level 2) RCx Professional
Target Audience
Technicians who wish to learn how to assist in the implementation of RCx Engineers who wish to learn how to assess operation symptoms and identify energy saving opportunities (ESOs) for improvement through data analysis Engineers who hold professional qualifications and wish to learn how to manage RCx process, and develop RCx practices for the corporates
Training Content
1. What is RCx

2. The major energy consuming building services systems and equipment

3. The major factors that may affect the efficiency of such systems and equipment

4. The major roles of operational team in the process of RCx and after the process

3. Implementation
  • Identification of ESO from the diagnosis of analytic results
  • Basic concept and approaches for implementation, M&V of ESO
4. M&V
  • Relevant M&V standards for RCx and its on-site practices
  • ESO saving estimation related to M&V and reporting of RCx project
5. On-going Commissioning
  • Setup key performance indicators (KPIs), induce training and review on-going commissioning plan
Learning Outcome
Upon completion of the training, candidates should have the ability and knowledge to:
  • Understand and assist in the 4 stages of RCx
  • Understand what are the factors that will affect energy efficiencies of building facilities
  • Collect and record information and data required for the RCx
  • Upkeep the accuracy of the instrument and monitor relevant KPIs
  • Follow instructions to operate the facilities efficiently based on the recommendations of the RCx process
Upon completion of the training, candidates should have the ability and knowledge to:
  • Understand fully the 4 stages of RCx
  • Carry out the RCx process with the necessary support from members of the RCx teams or services providers
  • Understand the performance characteristics of the building facilities and the common ESOs
  • Manage the energy performance of building facilities through on-going commissioning

Enrolment
Everyone is welcome to join the RCx training and examinations. The regular RCx training and examinations will be organised in May and September every year, and candidates should create an online account (individual) for the enrolments. For available training and examinations, please click HERE.

Private classes (company package) can be arranged for group enrolments, which 10 to 30 candidates join the same RCx training and examinations. The companies have to provide training venues and associated facilities, e.g. computer and projector. For enrolments of company package, please contact the HKGBC Secretariat by email (rcx@hkgbc.org.hk) for onward arrangement.
